It elucidates the neuroanatomical pathways that lead to specific clinical syndromes, and demonstrates how comprehensive anatomical knowledge combined with a thorough neurological examination can help localize and categorize a lesion and arrive at a differential diagnosis.
The time-tested logical, thematic structure with useful summaries, at the beginning of each chapter, and color-coded section headings enable readers to distinguish neuroanatomical from clinical material at a glance and enable efficient and time saving study.
Features of the sixth edition:
Topical Diagnosis in Neurology is an ideal reference for neurologists and neuroscientists who correlate neurological diseases with anatomical location to arrive at a diagnosis or understand a clinical syndrome. It is also an essential tool for trainees and advanced students who need a solid grounding in key neurofunctional relationships.
Mathias Baehr
Prof. Dr. med. M. Baehr is Director of the Department of Neurology at the University of Gottingen. In recent years, he established neurobiological research groups at the Max-Planck-Institute and the Department of Neurology at the University of Tuebingen and Goettingen. In 2002 he founded the Research Institute for Multiple Sclerosis Research in Goettingen and was elected Head of this institute. In 2002, he also became member of the Board of the Center for Molecular Physiology of the Brain, Gottingen. His research interests focus on the field of neurodegeneration and regeneration.
Michael Frotscher, a German neuroanatomist and neuroscientist.M. Frotscher examined the fine structure of synapses in the brain with the technique of high-pressure freezing, the neuronal connection of the hippocampus, the survival of nerve cells after lesions and the role of Reelin, a protein of the extracellular matrix, in the alignment and migration of nerve cells, for example in their layer arrangement in the cortex. In 2000, he received theMax Planck Research Award for International Cooperation. In 2009, he was awarded the Honorary doctorate from the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main
