Who are the authors of "Idiopathic Scoliosis: The Harms Study Group Treatment Guide, Second Edition" ?
Dr. Peter O. Newton is an orthopedist in San Diego, California and is affiliated with Rady Children's Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and has been in practice for more than 20 years
Dr. Amer F. Samdani : Chief of Surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Surgeon member of the Harms Study Group and serves on the HSG Executive Committee.
He joined the group in 2006 and is an active participant in four prospective research studies. He completed his neurosurgery training at Johns Hopkins Medical School with a Chief Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by Fellowship training at Cornell University in New York and at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is a current member of American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He resides in Philadelphia and joined the board in 2008.
Harry Shufflebarger, Paley Orthopedic and Spine Institute, Miami, FL, USA. He was an original surgeon member of the Harms Study Group in 1995 and reactivated his participation in 2003. He serves on the HSG Executive Committee and is an active participant in three prospective research studies.
He is currently at Paley Orthopedic and Spine Institute while serving as Clinical Professor, Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Miami. He completed his orthopedic training at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.
He was the President of the Scoliosis Research Society in 1999 and presently serves on the IMAST Program Committee. He resides in Florida and joined the board in 2008.
